Now we're talking! A suggestion though: make it that the only way to end the invasion is to defeat the Charr High Warlord who dwells deep within Charr Territory.
To do this would take a party of 8 players to go out into the wild PvE style, kill all manner of foul creatures and suffer hardships and finally reach the Warlord. Then the party must defeat him in combat. As a reward the invasion will end and the 8 brave adventurers will be given a huge amount of fame and money and items.
At the end of it their statues could be placed in one of the major towns with their names below each one and they could take their place in Guildwars history and become part of the folklore of the world.
This would inspire thousands of wannabe adventure groups going out in search of the Charr Warlord and would take epic MMORPG adventuring to a new level. I know it sounds extremely "Lord of the Rings" inspired but I don't think that the actions of a few gamers has ever affected the entire world so profoundly in any other game.

Didn't know why this is revivied..but glad people still like the idea.
This of couse is to make player feel that the "world" is moving, and not stuck in a perticular time frame. (of couse, such even can be reuse over time as well). One problem with it might be where it might confuse the new player since what is going on in the mission and in the world would be differnt, but it is nothing major. There could also be some sort of PvE ladder, where if enough player finish the Invasion-related mission under some circumstance, the event will develop in differnt way. Example: In a mission to drive back the charrs and inside their home tribe, if X% of people who finish the mission assassinate the Tribe leader, for some time after the event, you would see charrs fighting each other in some exploration area over who is going to be the new tribe leader.... if X% of people destory their god/statue/alter, than charrs will retrive back even more, and if X% of people who try but didn't finish the mission outweights those who win.... than charr will claim more territory at the end of the Event. This make the Event have a even more lasting impact in changing the face of world.
There could be different type of similar event as well, like King's idea of Vikin type of army invading the coast. (see his thread)
